If you message ChinaQuest, a person from our planning team replies on WhatsApp, suggests a route and answers your questions. If you then ask for a quote, we introduce you to a licensed Malaysian travel agency, and that agency is the one that sells, confirms and is responsible for your booking.
It is sensible to ask how this works before you type your name into any chat. Here is the whole path.
What happens after you send a message?
First we talk about the trip, not about money. You tell us who is going, roughly when, and what matters, such as slow days for grandparents or halal meals.
We reply with a route shape, point you to the right pages or planning tools, and flag anything that looks too rushed. You can stop here and plan everything yourself.
When does an agency come in?
Only when you ask for a quote. We then prepare a short brief from what you told us, and with your agreement we send it to a licensed Malaysian agency so you can compare a proper quotation.
Before that, we confirm what will be shared. Usually that means dates, group size, ages where relevant, the route and your budget range. Passport numbers and payment details are not needed at the enquiry stage.
Who is responsible for the booking?
The agency. It issues the quotation, takes your payment and holds the contract, so it answers for the hotels, guide, transport and refunds written in that contract.
ChinaQuest is an independent planning resource. We are a planning resource; licensed agencies quote and book. Read referral site versus travel agency for the full split of roles.
Do you earn money from the introduction?
We may receive a referral fee from an agency if you book through an introduction. We do not add it to your price, and it does not change the route we suggest. We say so openly, so you can weigh our advice with full knowledge.
What should you check before agreeing?
Treat the introduction as a starting point, not a recommendation to pay. Before you accept any quote:
- Search for the agency on the MOTAC website. Consumers are advised to verify an agency there before paying[1], and our licence-checking guide shows how.
- Ask what the quotation includes and excludes, using our quotation checklist.
- Compare it with one other quote through the package comparator.
- Pay only to the agency’s company account, never to a personal one.
What if you change your mind?
Tell us on WhatsApp and we stop. You owe nothing for asking, and the plan we sketched is yours to use however you like.
If you want to see the wider picture first, the booking topic page lists every guide on quotes, deposits and refunds.
