Our editorial policy

Reference materials and notes for researching China travel.

Independent advice

ChinaQuest writes for the traveller. Our advice on regions, routes and quotes is based on what suits you, whichever agency you end up using.

Official sources first

Entry rules, transport and payments come from the Chinese embassy, immigration authorities, rail and airline pages and UNESCO. Where an official page is not available, we say so and tell you to confirm before travel.

Facts carry sources and dates

Facts on our pages link to their source and show the date we checked them. Rules that change quickly are marked so you know to confirm them again.

Prices only with a dated source

We show a price only when a public, dated source exists. Otherwise our tools let you enter your own quotes and see the result in ringgit.

Referral fees are disclosed

A licensed Malaysian travel agency we introduce may pay ChinaQuest a referral fee. We state this on our about page and in how we help, and it does not decide what we recommend.

Corrections

When a reader or our own review finds an error, we fix the page and update the checked date. Send corrections on WhatsApp using the button on every page.

Respect for every reader

We write for every faith, age and budget. Halal, prayer, mobility and family needs are treated as ordinary planning questions.

Thinking about China?

Send us your dates and who is travelling. We reply with a suggested route and the questions worth asking before you pay.
